Will my prelims score clear?

Checked against every official GS Paper I cut-off since 2016

Prelims merit uses GS Paper I alone, but only for candidates who also score at least 33% in CSAT (GS Paper II), which is qualifying. Past cut-offs show the range, not next year's number.

How the check works

  • Your score is compared with the official prelims cut-off for your category in each of the last ten exam years, from UPSC's own notices. EWS cut-offs start with CSE 2019 and PwBD-5 with CSE 2018, so those two categories are checked against fewer years. For CSE 2016 and 2017, UPSC printed the disability cut-offs as PH-1 to PH-3, and the checker uses those for PwBD-1 to PwBD-3.
  • Scoring exactly the cut-off counts as clearing it: the cut-off is the mark of the last candidate who qualified.
  • Only GS Paper I counts for the cut-off. CSAT (GS Paper II) is qualifying at 33%.

Frequently asked questions

Does the checker include CSAT?

No, because UPSC doesn't. The prelims cut-off is on GS Paper I only. You must also score at least 33% in CSAT (GS Paper II), or your GS Paper I score is not considered at all.

Will the same score clear next year?

Nobody can say. The cut-off moves with the difficulty of the paper and the number of vacancies, so the checker shows how your score compares with past years, not a prediction.
